Vacation: Day 3 A Slightly Late Report

I meant to post this yesterday morning, but things got in the way. Namely a headache bordering on nausea. Anyway, here’s what happened….

Sunday night, roommate spaghetti. Really good. I highly recommend it. Then there was MechWarrior 4 and overall sitting around on my ass (not much to do overnights, and I prefer to keep things quiet out of respect to my downstairs neighbor). A nap. And then in the morning, it was time to head out for Adulting. First stop, get my ORCA Card looked at. Rode the bus all the way to Tacoma Dome Station, and it decided to just replace. The Pierce Transit employee commented about how it lasted that long. Got out of there, and I arrived at the bus platform minutes after the bus I wanted left. A few minutes later, I got on a bus to Federal Way. Not the one I normally take, it takes a more scenic route to serve more of Fife. Anyway we get to Milton, and I get off and connect with the 402 southbound to Puyallup. Stopped at the Wally World, and got another vial of insulin, and then crossed Meridian into the Mall. And finally, the Ultimate Destination for my Adulting session: a haircut. And I gave the barber a hefty tip afterward. A trip to Dairy Queen and then back on the bus home.

For those of you keeping score at home, I got a haircut. And all of my hats fit again…..

Beware The Idiots Of March….

Flash back to my high school years. Specifically 10th grade English. We had to read Julius Caesar. The first scene there was a line  “Beware the Ides of March” which was when Julius Caesar was assassinated.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I graduated from High School. A few years later and Cartoon Network had an I Am Weasel marathon on this day and called it the Idiots of March. A few Presidential Elections later, and I realized that the Super Tuesday primaries were on the Ides of March. And that’s when Beware the Ides of March became Beware the Idiots of March….

So Beware the Idiots of March. And don’t toss you Caesar Salad today. Stab it…..

Vacation: Day 2 Report:

So I decided I wanted Mexican take-out. And there’s a Mexican restaurant right by my apartment complex. So 1 Toro Grande #4 combo later…..

And immediately after that, a nap attack hit. Being on vacation with nothing to do, it was a no brainer. Back to bed. Woke up 5 hours later, and put the TV on and watch Bangladesh beat Pakistan in a match that went down to the last ball. Missed a Formula 1 race, but I’ve said before that Apple TV isn’t on the table yet.

Sunup comes and it’s now time for Adulting. I had to clean my room. Specifically vacuum it. And there were 2 bags’ worth of garbage to throw out. And then it was back to TV and MechWarrior IV…..

Another Vacation Update….

It looks like when I go to get my haircut Monday morning, I’m going to be make a side trip to the Tacoma Dome Station to get my ORCA Card looked at. I had already made plans to go out and adult, so it’ll just be another side quest….

Vacation Day One: Report….

I forgot to tun off my alarms last night, so at my regular times, I woke up, and my brother had ordered pizza. It was a good thing that I stepped out my room then, as I’ve been known to wake up and immediately pull up the Dominos app on my phone. And I spent the entire night sitting on my ass. I did try to take a midnight nap, but sleep wasn’t in the cards (something to do with the 3 cups of coffee, perhaps). Tried to address an issue with my ORCA Card with no success, I think it’ll have to wait till next week.

Also placed a delivery order from Target. Though since I technically didn’t leave the house, I won’t count it as adulting yet. Tonight’s agenda will be to watch Pakistan and Bangladesh go at it. I know I’m missing a Formula 1 race, but the finances aren’t quite there yet to afford Apple TV….

Vacation: Continue!

Vacation: Begin!

 So, I had accrued about 3 days' worth of PTO (aka vacation time), and I thought it was time for a break from work, and a particular co-worker (actually my immediate supervisor). Because we have over-lapping weeks, I only have to work with him for 3 days a week, on average. So I put my time off request in, and I specifically picked those three days that he was in. And his boss approved it that same night. After thanking him, I pointed out to him why I was taking those three days. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I had to call off the night (cough wouldn't go away). I came back to work after my weekend, and his boss told me that my supervisor was no longer with the company. They won't say anything on the record, but yes, he was fired. There were other issues that senior management had to investigate and address with him. And he got shit-canned.

So now I'm on vacation. I could've withdrawn the request, but I decided I had already booked it, and it was approved. So for the next 5 days: let the ass-sitting begin.

The agenda right now is to get my laundry done. It's currently in the wash. I have a couple of other adultings to adult on this vacation: a haircut and an ID. But those can wait till later. For now, it's the weekend off!

Shoes Have To Wait

So I rendered unto Ceaser recently. Got a refund. Or at least I thought I did. I mean the IRS accepted my tax return, and it said I was getting a refund. And a week later, the IRS approved my refund. But I never got it. It turns out I entered the wrong number on my bank account. And in order to update my account number, I need my ID. Which expired a while ago. Like 8 years. Don’t judge me. I quit drinking, so I don’t get carded, and I had no real need for it. So I have to gather my documents like I’m getting a new one. That’s a pain in the ass. But it needs to be done. And then I’ll have to get an enhanced one later (depends on current legislation)…..

So the shoes will have to wait….

Sick….

I should be at work right now. I’m not. Called in sick. Didn’t want to do it, but it happened. A few weeks back, I had a really sore and scratchy throat, so I called out to basically sleep it off. It turned out to be a cold, and it ran it’s course in about a week. And just as I get over that one, on the next weekend I wake up with another sore throat. Another cold. That was almost two weeks ago, and I still have the cough. So I’ve called out again tonight hopefully I can sleep it off.

So there’s why I’m not at work tonight. Now back to radio silence….

It’s the first day of Lent. Wherein many Christians (or those who say they profess Christianity) commence a season of fasting and prayer leading up to Easter.

Vacation Request: Approved. It’s only three days off, but it’s still time off. Not going to happen right away (three weeks out), but like I said it’s time off. And I need it….

Time For Some New Shoes…..

So last Monday night, I decided it was time to do the Render Unto Ceaser, 2026 edition (aka my tax return). Filed electronically Monday night, it was accepted immediately, and as of Thursday the refund was approved. It should arrive this week. And the one pair of shoes that I really like to wear are starting to wear out, so it’ll be time to get a new pair.

While going over my tax forms, I realized I have more in my 401k than I realized. I also realized that it’s still not enough. More on that later.

And since I’m writing this on my day off, when I would supposedly be at work, I think it’s time for a nap…..

So Apparently There Was A Football Game Sunday….

Yes, the Seahawks made it all the way to the Super Duper Bowl. And they won it. Quite handily. Anyway, no point in linking to it, use your Google-Fu for it.

And while there was that Football game going on, it was also the opening of the Winter Olympics. I’m not really into it this year, but all the best to the athletes taking part therein.

The big thing going in the the ICC T20 World Cup (this time in India and Sri Lanka). Team USA qualified by virtue of making to the Super 8 in the last T20 World Cup. So far in the past 24 hours, I’ve seen Australia (the New England Patriots of Cricket) defeat Ireland, South Africa beat Afghanistan (in double overtime, or Super Overs as they call it in cricket), Pakistan defeated USA, and West Indies defeated England. Go Flowers! Hooray West Indies!

And in another story a little bit over 20 years ago, I bought a calendar. And I posted it here. And coincidentally the Seahawks also made it to the Super Bowl for the first time. And they lost to Pittsburgh. This year, the Mariners also won their division, and as of this writing, the Kraken are on track to the playoffs….

It's Groundhog Day Today!

• 6 more weeks of Bill Murray movies....

Ok, I’m still here….

Life sometimes gets in the way of writing here. But I’m still around…..

The Seahawks are on their way to the Super Bowl. With the top seed in the NFC, they got the home field advantage and the first round bye. First came the FortyWhiners and then The Silence Of The Rams, but we shut them down. Next up, The Patriots suck…..

So a week and half ago, I decided I wanted some Burger King. Fired up Uber Eats and placed my order. And the driver delivered it to the wrong apartment. And then wouldn’t answer the phone when I called. Twice. Of course I reported it. Left a 1 star review. And realized that UberEats customer service is all AI, and there’s no way to get to a real human. While I was able to eventually get some of my money back, I ended up having to eat my loss on the tip to the driver. So I’ve deleted Uber Eats from my phone. I do need my Whopper fix, but not that bad…..
