Could you check your spam folders, please?

So I check my Gmail this morning, and I look in the spam folder, as I do on occasion. And I noticed a spam mail from me (nothing unusual in an of itself, as this is a common spammer tactic). But what concerns me was the other addresses that it was sent to. They were all my contacts. At first I thought my google address book had been compromised, so I immediately changed my Google password, and my yahoo (not that hard of a feat, since I'm in the midst of a system rebuild). But still I fear the damage has been done, and my address book is 'out there'. But then again, I only noticed it from checking my spam folder.

Btw, if you get an email from purporting to have been sent from my iPhone, know this: I don't have an iPhone. Never have, never will.

Anyway having said this, could you check your spam folders, and let me know what 'special offers' I have sent you?

To Simon Malls…

Under no circumstances will I ever purchase anything offered to me as the result of an unsolicited e-mail message.

A while back, I complained to you specifically about the Coke machines eating my money, and how I would only get a partial refund frim guest services. The reply I recieved was that you authorized the refund of the remainder of my money, but by then it was no longer worth it, and I decided to just eat my loss. I also decided that the Tacoma Mall (and the stores therein) would no longer see my business as a result of the 'go pound sand' attitude that I was shown. And I told you so at the time. I thought that would be the end of the matter. But no. You added me to your spam list. My home internet access, and my phone's internet access are both limited and metered. *I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE UNWANTED ADVERTISEMENTS YOU SEND ME!!* I do not need your ads, you don't need my business (if you did, you would've made sure your vending machines were working, and you would've made sure guest services actually gave a damn about customers).

Once again, under no circumstances will I ever purchase anything offered to me as the result of an unsolicited e-mail message. Spamming is considered theft of services and trespass to chattel (see CompuServe Inc. v Cyber Promotions). Your messages are unwelcome.

Aw shit, what a rip-off….

Alan Ralsky only got four years. They didn’t get him for the pron, or the enlarge your ‘johnson’, or the fake pills. They nailed him for pump-and-dump. Which is a wee-bit illegal (the SEC tends to frown on such shenanigans…).

Alan Ralksy got four years. Robert Soloway got a little less than four years. They’re lucky. I would’ve gone for public execution. But there is a bright spot. It got Comcast to clean up their network (so people will stop blocking my email, and forcing me to pay for a smarthost), and they beefed up the filtering (all of my email services now are SBL protected…).

More spam from Target

After my last post, I got a reply back from Claudia at Target, who basically told me to click the unsubscribe link, and that she had completed it for me, and that I would be getting it for two weeks. I’m not going to repeat my reply to her, but I’m not impressed with it, to say the least. When I look closer at it, I am ever further disgusted with Target. Not only did they spam me, but they sold my address to a 3rd party, basically means, that my spam load is going to increase. Basically, my address is going to get put on the ‘mllions’ cd and sold to other spammers. I’ve been through this before. I’ve been an admin on spam blocklists before. If I still was, Target’s corporate servers would be there right now. Spammers Lie. Target Lies. End of discussion.

Happy Holiday to all

Well, today was Christmas, but I didn't celebrate it. At least, not today. My siblings & parents celebrated it at my sisters house on Sunday (but I had to work, so I missed it). Then, the extended family got together on Christmas eve at my grandmother's (yes, I made it to that one. The appropriate death threat to my boss guaranteed I got the time off for that). Anywho, here is the list of some of the plunder I got from the Dread Christmas Pirate Santa & The Underpants Gnomes:

A nice fleece hoodie and a cold (though I could do without that one) from my boss.
Socks (yes, I did ask them)
Table ware (plates, bowls, silverware, etc) for at least 6 (thanks to my sister).
Kitchenware from my parents (maybe my Mom wants me to return her pizza cutter &cheese grater).
Spam
A target gift card (you can never go wrong with that).

And what really took the cake was the gift my cousin gave me:

A roll of Aluminum Foil (specifically so I can make a hat with it).

PRESS CONFERENCE ON ³SPAM KING² INDICTMENT



The U.S. Attorney¹s Office will hold a press conference following the

arrest of 27-year-old ROBERT ALAN SOLOWAY.  SOLOWAY was indicted last

week by a federal grand jury in Seattle in connection with his illegal

spamming activities.



The press conference will begin at 1:30 in the Wales Conference Room of

the U.S. Attorney¹s Office.  United States Attorney Jeffrey C. Sullivan

will be joined by representatives from the United States Postal

Inspection Service (USPIS), FBI, FTC, Internal Revenue Service Criminal

Investigations (IRS-CI), and Washington State Attorney General¹s Office.



SOLOWAY will make his initial appearance in U.S. District Court at 2:30

today.  Copies of the indictment will be available at the press

conference or are online via the PACER system.

Farewell, ORDB

Slashdot is reporting that the Open Relay Database is shutting down (More here). Basically, the volunteers who ran it have to focus on other things-it is important to remember that these people also have jobs, families, and lives to attend to, and they should be saluted for the service they provided to the internet.

I still use rbls to filter my mail. I use Sorbs, the AHBL, and the meaning of zen.
